Monchique is a world of microclimates. Generally in the higher lands, the temperature usually drops as the sun disappears and during the day the weather becomes mild when the big glowing ball decides to appear. However, there are areas, in this great mountain, where the cold of the night and the heat of the day are reminiscent of the Sahara desert. Perhaps, because of its proximity, or because of the unhappiness of living in a time of global warming.
The Casa Dantas was an executed project that deserved to take into account several aspects, from the conventional architecture to the small details of the surrounding landscape. There were two buildings on the property, one for housing (which was demolished) and a “barn” (which was recovered).
The project was conceived with the idea of maintaining the shape of the existing housing, in addition to this almost nostalgic recovery, the idea was to integrate the slopes that existed there in order to embrace the surrounding landscape.
